You don’t want just any Fort Collins Electrician installing your ceiling fan
You have longed for a ceiling fan for years. The ceiling fans section is the first area you check out at any home DIY store. But something about doing it yourself or finding a handy friend to put it up doesn’t sit right with you? We get it. Ceiling fan installs can be tricky, especially if you’ve never installed one. They aren’t something you just want to learn how to do by looking at videos online, and you don’t want to risk a quarrel if your friend doesn’t install it right.
At King Electric LLC, installing ceiling fans is just one of our many residential specialties. You can think of us as ‘your’ Fort Collins electrician that you can call for extra wiring, whole-home lighting installs, even car charger repair, and hot tub plug-in installation. We can do anything from troubleshooting that weird short in the system to wiring your basement finish and anything electrical in between. King Electric LLC has been licensed and insured since 2010. Owner Fabian Flores has worked on projects in Colorado, Texas, North Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
Things to know about ceiling fans before you buy
When you’re in the market for a ceiling fan, you’ll want to keep a few important things in mind. You should put a ceiling fan in rooms you use most and place them about eight to nine feet off the floor, says Bob Vila.com: “Ceiling fans don’t actually lower room temperatures; they cool by creating a breeze … Good spots are over the bed or above the family room or kitchen seating.” A breeze from a ceiling fan can make you feel four degrees cooler. The site also offers a good sizing guide from the American Lighting Association to help you fit your fan into the room.
One more important reminder, according to Bob Vila: keep the ceiling fan on a separate circuit from your lighting so you can operate the fan separately from your lighting. This is where a good electrician will come in. Having your fan professionally installed will ensure that it is done on the right circuit, and will be properly installed, especially if you have to use an extension on high ceilings. Bob Vila also has a 2022 ceiling fan buying guide to help you decide which one to buy.
We’ll even repair non-working fans, as one of our happy customers can attest: “King Electric is the best. Called King Electric late on a Saturday afternoon for help with a non-working ceiling fan after completing a DIY ceiling fan project. King walked me through a step-by-step troubleshooting process over the phone that was able to diagnose the problem as a bad wall fan control switch. Very cool!!!” Don B.
